1st Mark Kenas went 3-1 +290 to snag first place, continuing the dry spell of undefeated records that goes back to May 18, when Peter Shmiedicke went 4-0. By virtue of his enthusiasm for the Collins international word list, Mark was treated to an all-Reinke lineup of opponents, but was fearless in confronting the danger looming in front of him. His single loss was in the first round to Thomas Reinke, 385-435. He then beat Charles Reinke in two straight games, 409-363 and 503-394, cashing in with high-scoring bingos of UNCASHED (92) and MANTELET (122) in the latter victory. The cherry on top was an emphatic 530-345 win over Thomas, where Thomas' HANDIER for a sizable 94 points was no match for Mark's bingos of UNSHADED, PENULTS, and COMPOTES.

2nd Helen Flores strengthened her case for unlimited and irrevokable bragging rights with her second-straight second-place finish, this time going 3-1 +23. After a low-scoring, bingoless, but very tightly contested 319-317 victory against Sue Goldstein, Helen ramped up the scoring a bit with a 388-347 win against Sara McLaughlin. Helen had one bingo of DESTINY in that game (as in: it was destiny for Helen to go 3-1 two weeks in a row), while Sara had IMPOSES. Similar to Mark Kenas' experience, Helen's one loss came courtesy of Thomas Reinke, who defeated her by a score of 408-358. However, Helen was the winner of their previous contest, so this surely has ushered in an area where Helen beats Thomas exactly half the time from now into perpetuity.

1st Thomas Reinke stood head and shoulders above the competition with a 4-1 +492 record where he averaged 470 points per game. The night started inauspiciously for Thomas when he fell to the returning Mark Kenas, 421-434. That game, played using the international Collins dictionary, was riddled with words that you probably don't want to learn: Thomas played ENNUIED# and ENGUARDS#, while Mark had TUTTIES (which is odd but fully playable in the American dictionary) and the normal-looking INSTATE. A rematch in round three was more fruitful for Thomas as he came away with a 489-414 win, thanks to bingos of PELAGICS, FAULTING, and SEVENTY. Thomas wrapped things up with a comfortable 495-372 win over Bryan Benwitz. Bryan played two bingos of RETINUED and ATTORNED, but still fell well short of victory when faced with four bingos from his opponent: OPERATOR, TZAREVNA, ANGSTIER, and GENISTAS.

2nd Helen Flores continued her success from last week's Word Cup tournament in Chicagoland by going 3-1 +86. While caressing the conspicuously large piles of cash money that were her reward for a strong tournament performance, she downed the fearsome Charles Reinke by a score of 365 to 342. She immediately followed that up by defeating Bryan Benwitz 394-333, getting bingos of GRIEVES and AROUSES in the process. That win ended Helen's three-year winless streak against the Bryaniac. At that point, Helen seemed utterly unstoppable, but Dennis Lloyd was not intimidated by the quality of her wins up to that point, and took a close one off her, 402-397. Helen secured her spot in the top two with a closing 367-360 win over Sara McLaughlin, who got down WRENCHED while Helen countered with SETTING.

1st Charles Reinke notched his third-straight gold medal in the weekly club standings with his 4-1 +370 performance. Most of his progress towards that first-place finish was achieved in round one, where he played in a two-on-one and scored over 500 in both games. Against Helen Flores, he won 521-345 despite Helen's nice find of HUMIDOR. Against Thomas Reinke, he also won handily, 538-439, thanks to bingos of LAPIDIST, LIFEBUOY, EVASIONS, and the Collins-only ALBITIZE#. Thomas got down FORCIPES (the "proper" plural of FORCEPS) for 104 points, plus KILORAD and STEANING#, but still fell almost 100 points short of victory. Charles' single loss came against Peter Schmiedicke in a not-particularly-close 358-469 affair. Peter struck early and often with RENEGES, REORDAIN, and ESTRIOL, while Charles made the most of his singular bingo, a nine-letter EXFOLIANT played off of the word EX already on the board.

2nd Dennis Lloyd demonstrated his readiness for the upcoming Word Cup tournament in Chicagoland with a 3-2 +59 effort. His best game was a round-one victory over the fearsome Peter Schmiedicke, 458-411. Dennis got a 104-point RICKETY, as well as a 70-point ENVISION, to topple Peter, who had three bingos of TEOPANS, OUTLINER, and DILATATE. He also won a well-fought game against Sara McLaughlin, 427-363, where he unleashed bingos of GLOATED and CAULKING. Sara had JERSEYS for 92 points to make sure the game stayed reasonably close. A game against Helen Flores was not so fruitful for Dennis, as he lost 367-404 despite Helen not playing a bingo. Games where a player scores 400 despite not bingoing are notable enough to be noted here...hence the use of the word "notable" (able to be noted).
