Richard Lauder Excels in Experts @ 4-0 +365

1st - Richard Lauder finished atop the 13 experts who gathered at Attic Angels for the final club session of May 2012.  Richard's high game was a 479-288 two bingos (INSIDER, ESTRONE) to Chris Vergeront's single play of ASTERIA. Guess who had too many vowels too often.

2nd - Thomas Reinke's 3-1 +287 mostly maintained and slightly upped his 74.4% club winning percentage, as Thomas ended up as bingo king with 9 in 4 games, including the beauty ARBUTEAN, defined (by some) as (ADJ. of ARBUTE, an attractive curvaceous evergreen tree. Go figure!

3rd - Marty McCarthy, working 30 hour days it seems, found himself delivering cabinets in Madison, so he dropped by, winning 3 of his 4 games as he brought his best Oshkosh game to the big city and it held up quite nicely. Lets hope he has more deliveries set this way.

Dee Lillge Leads Intermediates Again

1st- Dee's 3-1 +65 was the top "vote getter" in a 6-person Intermediate field. Dee's sole loss was to expert Marty McCarthy but even there she had a very respectable 369-476 tally. Marty triple-tripled out in that game with REPLIERS just after Dee bingoed with RESALES.

2nd - Harwinder Dowd's 2-1 +128 nailed down 2nd. Harwinder bingoed in each of her 3 games, including the seldom seen SUGGEST.

3rd- Aki Miura finally broke the "no bingo" ice, when RETIRES hit the board in his 361-296 win against June Scott. RETIRES also includes two other good words, TERRIES and RETRIES. Aki finished with 2-1 +31 points. Can Aki's next bingo just be waiting in the wings? 

LYNDA FINN TOPS EXPERTS 2 4-1 +333

1st - Lynda Finn passed the Club's litmus test, i.e., playing both Reinkes, with one win, one loss, and then went on to win 3 more games to finish at 4-1 +333, tops in the experts.  Lynda's big game was a 496-252 win with newbie Dana Beilke, Lynda almost reaching the 500 levels despite playing a single bingo, CADAVERS.

2nd - Thomas Reinke held onto his club's Numero Uno ranking with a solid 3-1 night. The one loss though was an outstanding upset win as Dee Lillge, an intermediate player bested Thomas 400-378 in a win that ranks as one of the biggest unexpected wins in many a moon.  Congrats to Dee for a well played game.

3rd- Richard Lauder took 3rd with his 3-1 +215 performance. Richard's high game was his closing 485-334 encounter with Mary Becker. Lauder had 3 bingoes in that game, DECAGONS, GOVERNED and RAINOUT to Mary's single of BOASTED.

DEE LILLGE TOPS INTERMEDIATES AT 3-1 +287

1st - Dee played well all night long, achieving 5 bingoes (BLISTER, AVERTED, REENLIST, RETAINER and TANGLED) in her 4 games, inlcuding her win over club favorite, Thomas Reinke as she went away happy with a 3-1 +287 record.

2nd - June Scott continued her strong play lately, this time with a commendable 2-1 +104 double bingo night (ELEGANT and CRATERS) to nail down 2nd place in the Intermediates.  June's two bingoes need to be viewed against her overall record, as she normally gets 1 bingo every 9 or 10 games, so she was on a hot streak tonight.

3rd - Sue Goldstein also recorded a better than average night with two bingoes, BROADER and the phony but plausible MEWINGS while on her way to a 2-3 -235 finish. Sue's big game was her 376-352 rumble with June Scott, a 2nd round win.

THOMAS REINKE REMOUNTS BACK INTO THE TOP SADDLE AGAIN

1st - Thomas Reinke retained his lead as top player in the experts with a solid 3-1 +367 outing. Thomas laid down the word of the week, a nine letter play of ALCHEMIST in his closing game win of 440-283 with Barb Besadny.

2nd - Charles Reinke's only loss was to brother Thomas (387-441) as he finsihed 2nd with a 3-1 +264 effort. His closest game was a narrow 380-348 win versus Richard Lauder in a game where both players held a blank apiece on their final racks, neither blank being played for more than a 3 letter play. A sad ending for the once proud blank tiles.

3rd - Andy Bohnsack also had a 3-1 night, his loss coming at the smack-down hands of one Charles Reinke in a 388-579 closer.  Andy's twin bingoes of LITHARGE and HANDSETS were shunted aside by Charle's answers of DETICKER, PREVAIL and GOSSIPED in what proved to be the highest scoring game of the night.

BETTY HASSELKUS GRADUATES TO EXPERTS WITH SGTRONG SHOWING

1st - Prof. Betty Hasselkus had good news for the Intermediates...her current 369 average has earned her a first class ticket to the expert group after her latest 3-1 +421 dominated the Intermediate group. Betty also announced she will be coming much more regularly now that her bells have been moth-balled for the near future.

2nd - Sue Goldstein's 3-1 -103 was sufficient to carry her into 2nd place for the night, Sue's big win was a 382-308 game with Sharlie Miura. Sue got away with the phony "farters" in that game, evidently missing the three good words in that combo of FRATERS, RAFTERS and STRAFER.  But come on...who hasn't known a "farter" or two in their lifetime?

3rd - Dell Lillge's 2-2 +9 finshed her in 3rd position. Dee's highest game was a356-334 narrow win over Sharlie Miura in their opening game.
