ANDY BOHNSACK CELEBRATES THE 4TH WITH 4TH WIN

1st - Andy Bohnsack reached the patriotic number of four wins against a single setback, tossing around scoring bingoes like cheap firecrackers, as he exploded ten bonus plays over his five game outing. His most unusual play was FATBIRD, part of his three bingo (with SWATTED and EXPANSES) in a 535-265 game with Gail Salm.

2nd - Lynda Finn's 3-1 also added up to a happy Fourth as she captured 2nd place on this historic evening. I noted fireworks being wildly sent skyward as I drove home from the club as word of Lynda and Andy's achievements quickly spread throughout the greater Madison community.

3rd - Mary Becker's 3-1-1 (a 383 tie with Molly Gardner) allowed her in cinch 3rd place, and without question some of the more subdued fireworks certainly were in her honor as she made her way homeward this evening.

DEE LILLGE HONORED WITH ROMAN CANDLES FOR TOPPING INTERMEDIATES

1st - Dee Lillge, who along with Intermediates Sue Goldstein and June Scott made up the entire field of Intermediates, was given top honors and her own fireworks displays after the club broke up. Dee earned her spurs with a 2-2 -41 finish.

On behalf of all eleven members of Club 247 who showed up to play, I'd like to thank the city of Madison for their efforts and "no expenses spared" showing of the firework laden celebrations for not only the top players tonight, but for everyone else who likewise braved the 100+ temps to join us this evening.

Preparations are rumored to be underway for an even bigger public display of support next year.  Well Done, Madison!

Charles Reinke Reclaims 2nd Place in Experts

1st - Charles Reinke's perfecto 5-0 night moved him into second position just a tad behind brother Thomas's club leading 73% winning percentage in the quest for Top Gun at our club. Charles aided his own cause in his final game match up with his brother. Charles found the tile bag generous in giving him tiles that he matched well with his expansive vocabulary, resulting in bingoes of STRIATED, TOWLINE, AGONISE, and the word of the week, SAINTDOM,  as he added bonus points and finally totaling a heady 557-384 in his closing victory.

2nd - Richard Lauder found his 3-1 +233 adequate for a 2nd place ensconcement, Richard also finding good fortunes tile wise in his game with Thomas Reinke, as MATINEE and TRUNDLES and the plausible but phony TRENDER all added to his 434-372 win in their 2nd game match.

3rd - Peter Schmiedicke continued his winning nights, this time with a 3-1 +68, his big game a three bingo (ANALYSE, RESIEZE and REFINER) head-to-head duel with Helen Flores.

SUE GOLDSTEIN TOPS TEENY INTERMEDIATE FIELD AT 2-2 -50

1st - Sue Goldstein, along with the other two Intermediates, ended up playing each other as well as many players from the Expert level this warm night. Sue managed a 2-2 -50 to lead the charge of the Intermediates into the more dangerous "scrabble sharks-infested" games of the Experts.

2nd - Dee Lillge played three experts, finishing at 1-3, as she took a game off of expert Gai Salm in a close 353-344 2nd game. Her bingo of STREWING was the difference maker there.

3rd - June Scott finsihed in 3rd at 0-3 -319, also falling "victim" in two of her games to experts Charles reinke and Helen Flores. June is hoping Aki and Sharlie well both be back with us soon, helping to balance the matches with more Intermediates present.

Andy Bohnsack Leads Five 3-1'ers in Experts

1st - Andy Bohnsack topped a tight field of five experts who all finsihed with 3-1 records, Andy's having the biggest cume of +189. Andy and Peter Schmiedicke tied for bingo king honors with 9 each.  Andy's sole loss was deliverd by the same Peter in a 409-445 3rd game encounter.

2nd- Lynda Finn finished in second at 3-1 +170, right behind Andy's cume. Lynda managed to best Peter Schmiedicke 412-357, resulting in her second place finish against his identical record. Lynda was nipped herself in a tight five point loss to Shayla Dunn. Shayla played the outstanding bingo of the week, BAGATELLES, a 10 letter gem in an earleir game with Thomas Reinke.

3rd- Peter Schmiedicke's 3-1 with an identical +170 took 3rd place honors. Peter had a huge 4 bingo explosion in his first game, playing SINKAGE, INSULTS, LANTERN and SHIFTER in his 492-406 win with Charles Reinke.

Dee Lillge Takes Top Spot in Intermediates at 2-2

1st - Dee Lillge sandwiched 2nd and 3rd game wins around a narrow 3 point opening loss to June Scott (297-300) and a valient closing game with the club's Top Gun, Thomas Reinke, where her 341-449 fell quite a bit short of her 3rd win, but still allowed her top place in the small Intermediate field.

2nd - June Scott finished second at 1-1-1 as her first two games were decided by the thinnest of margins...game one won with a 300-297 and game #2 tied at 207-207 apiece with new comer Mark Saltzman.

3rd - Sue Goldstein also had a tie game, as she finsihed at 1-2-1 for 3rd. Sue's tie came on the higher end of scoring when she and Barb Besadny knotted the score at 359 a piece.
