CHARLES REINKE SMITES TWIN...GAME ON!

1st - Charles Reinke emerged in 1st place tonight from the shadow of his brother's #1 Finishing spot as 2011-12 Club Champion with a 5-0 +345 outing that included his 291-373 win over Thomas as they joined battle for top spot once again. Insofar only the Reinkes are averaging north of the elusive "400" level the brothers seem to be outdistancing the rest of the pack early this year.

2nd -Richard Lauder landed in 2nd with a 3-1 +129. He did manage another upset win against Thomas Reinke, this time a 414-342 affair. Richard, from some unexplainable twist of fate, has a winning 9-6 cumulative record with Thomas Recike, contrasted with a 6-14 cumulative score when he plays brother Charles.  So Richard believs its a matter of "playing the Good twin" vs. "playing the "bad" Twin at work here :)

3rd - Betty Hasselkus also had a 3-1 evening, her one loss coming from Peter Schmiedicke in a lopsided 280-457 second game blowout.

SUE GOLDSTEIN LEADS INTERMEDIATES WITH LUKE WARM 2-2 NIGHT

1st - Sue Goldstein won both her Intermediate games with Aki Miura and June Scott, but ran into considerably tougher sledding with Experts Charles Reinke and Betty Hasselkus. Sue finished at 2-2 -89 this evening, good enough to top the three other intermediates that joined her.

2nd - Sharlie Miura, who leads the Intermeidates with a 75% winning record, took second at 1-1 +102.

3rd - Aki Miura finshed in 3rd, also with a one win-one loss outing, but a larger -88 cume score.

Peter Schcmiedicke surged to the front in the played phony department  with a 33% phony bingo percentage as he authored QUILLAS and PISTLES, both words close to real words, SQUILLA being good, and both STIPLES and TIPLESS valid plays. So far, in the 2nd week in to our new year, only Richard Lauder and Barb Besadny are the only two other players with "besmirched" bingoes accepted by their opponents. According to Richard, the rest of our players need to take more "flyers"....you never know when one will stick and stay on the board..  : )

THOMAS REINKE STARTS NEW CLUB SEASON WITH 100% WINNING PERCENTAGE

1st Thomas Reinke is averaging 456 on the year thanks to his 4-0 +433 performance.  His most dominant win of the night was in his round-one matchup versus Shayla Dunn, a match which he won 499-312.  If we extrapolate out, Thomas is likely to finish the year with 200 wins and not a single loss.  This would undoubtedly be the scrabble accomplishment of the century, so no pressure Thomas.

2nd Barb Besadny started off strong at 3-1 +109.  She brought out the big guns for a 441-269 win against Sue Goldstein, playing the bingos DEBATES and "FILMINGS".  Mark Kenas is probably the only player at our club who would be able to confidently challenge that plausible phony off the board.

3rd Shayla Dunn also had a 3-1 record, with a smaller +13 cumulative.  After being held bingoless against Thomas, she bested the other Reinke twin 403-378, again without the aid of a bingo, Charles' bingos of UNRAISED and DISENDOW not being enough.  A troubling trend emerged for Shayla for the new year, as both Reinkes had double-blank bingos against her.

SUE GOLDSTEIN STARTS THE NEW YEAR LIKE SHE ENDED THE LAST - ON TOP!

1st Sue Goldstein went 3-1 -36, all the more impressive considering that she had to face several expert players over the course of the evening.  She confidently turned away Lynda Finn in the final game of the night, 362-336, aided by her bingos of REBOOTS and GROANER.

2nd Sharlie Miura scored 325 in both of her matches, on her way to 2-0 +139.  Like her expert counterpart Thomas Reinke, she is setting herself up to go undefeated the rest of the year.

 14 players attended this week's Scrabbling phrensy.  Helen Flores played the word of the week, DHURRIE, which is an Indian rug.  Perhaps next week she can play the word FLOKATI, which is a Greek rug.  Charles Reinke attained high A with the word POONTANG (better left undefined), Shayla Dunn nabbed low N, Thomas Reinke earned high E with DEBRIDE (V. to remove dead tissue surgically), and Richard Lauder won low W. 

THOMAS REINKE SWEEPS THE EXPERTS  AT 5-0 +327

1st- Thomas Reinke emerged as this year's top scrabble expert with a 73.6% winning percentage. Staying true to past form on the last night of this year's club games, Thomas again won all five of his games. His only really close game was his nine point win (420-411) with the club's #2 player, brother Charles.  Charles is looking forward to next year's new start in his quest to replace Thomas as the club's Numero Uno guy.  Stay tuned...

2nd - Charles Reinke's 3-1 +428 easily landed him solidly in 2nd this evening. Chales finished the year with the highest per game club average of 436 in the regular players, and he was clearly bingo king this night with 11 bonus plays.  He played the high game of the night, a 535-385 win over Andy Bohnsack.

3rd - Andy Bohnsack's 3-1 +134 cemented 3rd place.  Andy had a very tightly fought game, besting Helen Flores 457-424 as he played bingos of DETRAINS, RATTLERS and PINWALES in his 33 point win.

SUE GOLDSTEIN TOPS INTERMEDIATES WITH 3-0 RECORD

1st -  Sue Goldstein emerged as the Top Intermediate player this year with her 56.8% winning percentage, coiupled with a  final 330 average. Sue's biggest game was a 368-310 win over Aki Miura.

2nd - Aki Miura finished second with a 1-1, opening his night with a 289-262 game with June Scott.

3rd - June Scott's 1-2 +25 carried our most veteran Intermediate player to a 3rd place finish in a small field of just four intermediate players.
