Charles Reinke hits 13th straight win

                    CHARLES REINKE HITS 14 WINS..

NOW HAS "$5 BULLSEYE JACKET" ON AGAIN!

1st - Charles Reinke recorded his 14th straight win as he again swept the field, this time with a 4+0 +545 record. Charles's closest game of the night was his 452-370 win against his brother Thomas.  Charles played the lovely bingo of PALEOSOL (a layer of ancient soil) as one of his 10 bingoes overall that night.   He now has an 80% winning percentage.

2nd- Mary Becker rose from a way too long losing streak several weeks back to a dominating 4-1 +201 night. including back to back 450 games vs. Richard Lauder and Peter "Bingo Machine" Schmiedicke before drawing Charles for her last game. She became Charles 14 straight victim.

3rd- Peter Schmiedicke's third place 3-1 +229 included the club's high game of the night, a convincing 557-441 shootout with Mark Kenas. Peter played ENACTOR, TOADIES, SORRIER and a triple-triple scoring  ROUSTING in that high scoring effort.  He and Mark combined for 998 points.

Thomas Reinke layed down the word of the week, AYURVEDAS, a nine letter world class play thru the disconnected Y and the second A. An Ayurveda is defined as a Hindu medicinal system...terrific play Thomas! Not many players looking at a Y,V, and the letter U would think their was any hope there at all. Not so with Thomas.

AKI MIURA TAKES 1ST WITH 1-1 -85

1st - Aki Miura emerged top Intermediate in a field of 3 players, with a narrow 5 point win vs. Sue Goldstein in his first of two games at the club.

2nd- Sue Goldstein's 1-3 -162 came as Sue played two games against experts as part of her 4 games played evening. Sue's win was a 323-270 2nd game with Sharlie Miura.

3rd - Sharlie Miura finished 3rd at 0-2 -124 as she and Aki once again helped Sue form a small but loyal showing of Intermediates.

Charles Reinke Express Rolls Onward

CHARLES REINKE UNBEATABLE?  ...stay tuned....

1st - Charles Reinke's rocketship zooms upward again! With a dominating 4-0 +628 Charles reinke further solidified his Club leading position. Charles averaged 461 while his opponents recorded a more feeble 304 average score. He know has a 78.9% winning record. Helen Flores needs to play him more often these days to slow down this wordsmithing titan.

2nd - Andy Bohnsack recorded a 3-1 +190 to finish in 2nd. Andy played one of the funner words in our lexicon, SEXTARII (the plural of SEXTARIUS, an ancient Roman unit of measure) in his 2nd game matchup with Gail Salm. His sole lose came at the hands of "guess who", as Charles bested him 425-314.

3rd- Richard Lauder's 3-1 +83 was enough to land him at 3rd place. Once again, Charles handed that single lose to Richard in a 503-313 demolition exhibition. Charles started that game rolling along with his first play,  ISOTOPE, the "T" being the first of Charles's double blank drawing. Richard felt lucky in cracking the "300" plane by game's end.

         SUE GOLDSTEIN TOPS INTERMEDIATES

1st - Sue Goldstein, after playing nothing but experts last week, was heartened to see Aki and Sharlie Miura back once more. She Finished at 2-2 +122, saving her sole bingo (UNLEARN) for her game with expert gail Salm.

2nd - Aki Miura's 0-2 -162 was adequate for 2nd in the 3 player field.

3rd- Sharlie Miura's 0-2 -227 took 3rd in the field of 3 players.

We play next week at Attic Angel's.

Charles Reinke Pulling Away

1st - Charles Reinke enhanced his club leadership position with a 4-0 +240 night, helping his own cause with a 461-405 closing win vs. brother Thomas. They each had three bingos, Charles with MANICURED  (a nine!), ALEWIFE and WORKABLE while Thomas salvoed back with LANDLERS, NIOBATES and GUARDANT.

2nd - Renato Umali's 4-1 +321 clinched 2nd place. He and Thomas each had 11 bingo plays, Renato's sole loss came at the hands of Mark Kenas in an atypically low scoring game 334-351. Renato had the only bingo there between both these experts, and it was appropriately enough the word SCROUNGE.

3rd- Mark Kenas, making an all too rare appearance at club finsihed at 3-1 +282 for 3rd. Mark admitted to being rusty from being away from competiion for awhile and so none of Mark's always awesome bingo finds (words like QUINCUNX) were on display for him this night in the 7 more plebian bingoes he played.

Without any other Intermediates available, Sue Goldstein played all of her 4 games against experts...and she finished with a very respectable 2-2 -176 final tally. Her wins came against Mary Becker and Betty Hasselkus.

Also worth noting, Thomas Reinke fell just shy of the elusive "600" club with his 595-231 game with Shayla Dunn. Thomas played bingoes of EARNERS, STUNNER, VAPOROUS and GOETHITE during that game.
