LYNDA FINN ESTABLISHES THE FINN "VOWELS TO YOU" RULE
1st - Lynda Finn welcomed a "Win Like Finn" concept as she swept through her expert matches with a pristine 3-0 +75 record. A major part of her successful strategy is to leave only vowels for her opponents to draw in closing games when the scores are close. : )
2nd - Thomas Reinke exploded a 611-322 game against Richard Lauder. including a very well timed triple-triple of QUALMIER for 212 points to conclude with a 3-1 +492 outing and 2nd place.
3rd - Charles Reinke also had a 3-1 finish, but only 194 in cume, 88 of them coming from his 443-355 win against brother Thomas in their 3rd round encounter. Charles was blindsided in his next game when he encountered the Finn "nothing but vowels" in his late game with her, losing his final game 418-432.
HARWINDER DOWD UNSCATHED IN INTERMEDIATES
1st - Harwinder Dowd went undefeated in all three of her games, to take the top spot in a group of six intermediate players. Her friend Debi played two games at the club, getting an introduction to playing amongst the "veterans" gathered this night.
2nd - Sharlie Miura also was undefeated, winning both of her games with June and Debi to finish at 2-0 +219. Sharlie finished with a 404-258 game with newbie Debi.
3rd - Aki Miura's 1-1 -41 took the 3rd place position. Aki won a close game 296-240 with June Scott.
Lynda goes undefeated. Renato plays the word of the night, SEVRUGA. Ruth Ann joins in the fun.

Thomas Reinke Plays Bingo of the Millenium, His Three Wins Were Secondary
1st Thomas Reinke had three wins with an impressive 455 cumulative. He played OMOPHAGIA for 112 (a double-double through OP) in a 522-349 victory versus a stunned Lynda Finn. Omophagia is defined as "the eating of raw flesh", but I'm having some problems tying that in to Scrabble, so if you want a pun you'll have to come up with one yourself. One 500-point game not being enough, Thomas also scored 505 against Andy Bohnsack, unleashing the words FLAILING, TWEETING, and CONENOSE (the more plausible-sounding NOSECONE being phony).
2nd Shayla Dunn also went 3-1. In the closest game of the night, she notched a close 444-438 win vs. Charles Reinke, playing IODINES and the nice FREEBIE, before falling to the other Reinke twin.
3rd Charles Reinke was held to a "mere" five bingos, but still managed to go 3-1 +54. His lone bingo of PORTRAYS was enough to take down Peter Schmiedicke's ONETIME in a 407-369 win.
Betty Hasselkus Takes Intermediates to School
1st Betty Hasselkus was the only undefeated player in the group, going 4-0 +286. She was the only Intermediate player to get a bingo down, playing one in each game: FLOATERS, GREETED, FALLERS, and LOOTERS.
2nd Barb Besadny went 1-2 -72, her win being against Sue Goldstein 338-320.
3rd June Scott was also 1-2, with a -194 spread. She beat the aformenetioned Barb Besadny with a score of 355-295.
